With a range of improvements over the GX1, the new mirrorless GX7 is aimed at the serious enthusiast. Although slightly larger than the outgoing GX1, the GX7 is fashioned in a magnesium alloy, full die-cast frame, so weight won’t be an issue.
The GX7 boasts a new 16-megapixel Digital Live MOS sensor, a ’tilt-able’ Live View Finder, built in Wi-Fi, and 1080P video capability. The GX7 also has a all-new AF system, allegedly capable of focusing right down to -4EV. A maximum shutter speed of 1/8000 is also achievable.
In-camera (as opposed to lens-based) Image Stabilization is an excellent addition, and will be a very welcome feature for many users. There are a range of 22 creative effects available in camera, as well as a creative panoramic mode.
The GX7 will ship next month, and will be available as a body only, or with a 14-44mm lens, available to pre-order now.
