Large format photography is usually a rather expensive business. A new 4×5 camera named ‘Intrepid’ plans to change all that.
The Intrepid Camera is currently well on its way to achieving it’s Kickstarter funding process. In fact it’s got off to such a great start it’s virtually achieved it’s main fundraising goal with nearly a month to spare.
The prototype of the Intrepid Camera is fashioned out of birch plywood and is designed to be foldable and lightweight. Traditional large format cameras are known for being rather hefty, the Intrepid camera is a more portable solution, weighing in at around 2.6lbs.
It accommodates 75-300mm lenses using Linhof/Technika lens boards, please note that lenses are not included if you decide to purchase via Kickstarter. The first 25 cameras (priced at £99) have already sold out, but you can still pre-order a full production model at £129 (around $240 US dollars).
If you’re based outside the UK you’ll also have to stump up an extra £20 for shipping.
